However, thousands of people were injured and many others suffered its consequences and after-effects. Novelist Haruki Murakami interviews the victims, those who lived and suffered the attack first-hand, to establish precisely what happened that day on the various subway lines affected. He also unravels the true story behind a terrorist act that turned an ordinary Monday morning into a national tragedy. But, above all, to answer a fundamental question: why? Why terrorist violence, or any violence? And why at that specific time and place? As a counterpoint, Murakami offers us the testimonies of the members of the sect who participated in that attack and their possible motives.
